Point Break was founded in 2008 by former bassist Zach Starr. After three years of musical growth and lineup changes, the band currently features frontman Alex Starr's gritty vocals on top of a style that has been described as "the mutant offspring of a foursome involving OAR, Sublime, State Radio and The Expendables." He along with lead guitarist Justin Budlow, create soaring guitarmonies, with Ian Singleton providing monster foundations on bass, Tyler Matte utilizing thunderous metal-inspired theatrics on drums, and Julian Jacobson blasting the dulcet, trance-like tones of the tenor saxophone to round out the band's sound. Point Break's first EP - "You Should Probably Grab a Towel" is pretty self explanatory. Ranging from upbeat ska rhythms to metal-infused reggae jams, Point Break will smack you in the face, leaving you begging for another round. "Coming Up For Air," Point Break's first full-length album, is the band's latest accomplishment. The current touring line-up additionally features Henry Meyer on lead guitar.

Secret Stash 2 Concert x Los Vegas Mixtape Release Party (Pics x Video)

As the Carolina's got its first taste of fall weather with temperatures dipping into the 40's, the crowd was overcome by the heat of local artists burning up the stage at Jack Sprats during the Secret Stash 2 concert and Los Vegas' mixtape release party in Chapel Hill, Oct, 1. The love and support for local rap & hip hop was definitely felt throughout the night as acts like 100 Proof, Chad A and Los Vegas all three representing Durham, N.C., and Carizma of Raleigh, N.C., took the stage to display their talents. |Read More|

The Secret Stash 2 Concert was developed to let the cats out of the bag; there are too many local artists out there with talent who are trying to make a name for themselves and the time has come to give these cats some well deserved press. DJ Clint Easthood has a secret stash of talent that he is unleashing on the area and the crowd who came out were intrigued and impressed by the local artists uncovered at the Stash!

100 Proof kicked the show off with some hard body club anthems; hyping up the crowd as fans chanted their infectious hooks over hard hitting bass lines. Carizma captivated an audience of which the majority had never seen her performance. She took to the mic focused on winning the crowd over and left the stage with that mission accomplished. Chad A. took over the stage with swagger and confidence as he blew the crowd away with timely punch lines and witty metaphors. DJ Clint Easthood introduced Los Vegas to the Jack Sprat crowd; incorporating an artist and DJ tandem to rock the crowd with five tracks from Vegas’ newly released mixtape, No Pen No Pad 3. The crowd showed Vegas much love with interaction, chants and an approving standing ovation.

There was also a last minute addition to the lineup that took the show over the top. Tito Montana, of Poughkeepsie, NY, was in town making promo runs for his newly released album County, State and Fed Time. He and his crew burst onto the stage with an energetic vibe and immediately won the crowd over.

All in all it was a great night for local rap and hip hop heads, as up and coming artists performed quality music for their fans and hopefully added some new ones. Scratch that, everyone was on point Saturday night so they definitely expanded their fan base, no doubt! Easthood always keeps a fresh stash, so you know there will be a Secret Stash 3. Question is will you be there feeling the true local hip hop heat or will you be left in the cold reading and hearing about it? Don’t sleep on the Stash!
